CDHB Medical & Dental job types
For those looking for positions within the medical or dental disciplines, the CDHB offers a wide variety of options, and listed below are detailed descriptions of the positions, and their role within the organisation.
The term ‘RMO’ is used to cover both ‘House Officer’ and ‘Registrar’. In other parts of the world, ‘RMO’ equates to terms such as ‘Junior Doctor’ and ‘JMO’.
A House Officer is a junior doctor or dentist in the first two years following graduation from medical school.
The term Senior House Officer, refers to a House Officer in the third year following graduation, and is generally not used here – there is only one such position at CDHB at this time and that position is in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
A Registrar is a junior doctor who has completed at least two years following graduation and may or may not have entered advanced training.
Once completing their training a doctor would work in the area they have specialised.
