First year house applicants need to apply through ACE (The Advanced Choice of Employment); this scheme is a national internship matching process to employ first year House Officers (post Graduate Year 1s) on behalf of all the District Health Boards (DHB'S) in New Zealand.  All applicants wishing to apply for a first year House Officer position in New Zealand at the beginning of the training year must apply through the ACE scheme by clicking the link below:

Checklist

When making your application it is essential that all of the required documents are included. Below is a checklist of documents required at time of application.

  • completed application form
  • up to date copy of your CV
  • full details of your referees including their email address as we shall contact them directly. (Don't forget to advise your referees of your application)
  • copy of your current NZ practising certificate (if you have one with the NZ Medical Council)

If you are a House Officer applying for more than one area including Anaesthesia; Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics please make sure a separate application is completed for each area for which you wish to be considered.

CDHB will acknowledge receipt of your application and you’ll be advised of the outcome in accordance with the above timetable.
