CDHB Medical & Dental programmes

Resident Medical Officers

The Resident Medical Officers Unit, based at Christchurch Hospital, recruits RMOs (Registrars and House Officers) on behalf of the CDHB.

The Resident Medical Officers’ year in New Zealand differs from that in other countries with the house officer year running from the end of November to the end of November each year. The registrar year runs from mid December to mid December.

Positions often become available throughout the year, so please feel free to contact us directly to get an idea of availability.

The majority of RMOs are based at Christchurch Hospital, which is the major acute teaching hospital, however RMOs are also based at Burwood, Christchurch Women’s, Hillmorton and The Princess Margaret Hospitals.

We currently employ about 350 House Officers and Registrars.

United Kingdom Doctors - Foundation Year 2

The CDHB is able to accommodate up to six United Kingdom RMOs on their Foundation Year 2 (FY2) each year. We offer the experience and supervision required by the F2 programme, information for which can be found on the overseas applicants page.
